Feeling tired after meditation can be a frustrating experience as it is counterproductive to the energy healing effects that meditation should provide. Fortunately there are some things that you can do to help prevent this from happening.
For one thing, you can try to meditate in a more awakened position. This can be achieved by sitting in a chair or standing up during your practice. It also helps to do your practice in the morning or at other times that you have more energy instead of at night when it is most common to feel sleepy after meditation.
The reason you may feel sleepy after meditating is because the brain waves that occur during meditation are very similar to the brain waves produced during the early stages of sleep. It is therefore quite normal for people to feel a little sleepy after meditation from time to time, particularly when they are new to the practice. If you find yourself consistently feeling sleepy after your meditation sessions then there could be an underlying cause such as a lack of adequate rest or illness that needs to be addressed.
Another reason you may feel sleepy after meditation is because of the way your body is positioned during the practice. It is very important to have a good posture while meditating. This means keeping your back straight, elongating the spine and opening the chest to allow for fuller breathing. If your posture is not good then you may be unable to fully breathe which can cause you to feel tired.
