Why Am I Seeing Yellow Spots in My Vision?

Seeking professional medical advice is always recommended as this is a concerning symptom and may indicate an underlying health issue. Yellow spots in your vision can be a sign of many different conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, or even a retinal tear or detached retina. To diagnose the cause of your yellow spots, an eye care professional will perform a comprehensive eye exam including a dilated eye exam to check for any specks or flashes in your vision.

The most common reason to see yellow spots in your vision is that you are experiencing bright light flashes or glare. Looking at a very bright light causes special cells in the retina to become saturated with pigment which can cause temporary blindness and the appearance of yellow spots or patterns in your vision. This usually lasts only a few seconds or minutes and will stop when the retinal cells become unsaturated.

Another common cause is eye fatigue, particularly after staring at a screen for long periods of time. This can be caused by several factors, including a lack of sleep or stress.

Yellow spots can also appear as a result of head injury, especially if you have experienced bleeding in the brain or optic nerve. If you have suffered a head injury recently and are seeing yellow spots, it is important to seek medical attention immediately as this could be a serious condition. On a spiritual level, some people find that the appearance of yellow spots in their vision is a sign from a loved one who has passed on and is trying to communicate with them. Yellow has been linked to divinity, holiness, and resurrection and is often seen as a symbol of divine protection.
