Who Sung This Song?

There are times when you hear a song that's catchy but you aren't quite sure who sang it. You could ask a friend, or you can do a quick search online to find out who sang this song. The results may surprise you!

Many of the top recording artists also wrote their own music. Some of them have written every single track on their debut album. Others have co-written songs for a variety of singers and songwriters. You may be surprised to learn that the popular song, "Beautiful Day" was written by a 10-year-old boy from Jamaica named Rushawn Ewears. The video of his classroom performance has gone viral across Tik Tok, YouTube and Instagram.

A few other singer-songwriters include the Grammy-winning duo of Ed Sheeran and Benny Blanco. They wrote a number of hit singles for other artists including Adele, Beyonce and Justin Bieber. The song "Irreplaceable" by Beyonce was originally written by R&B singer Ne-Yo. The BeyHive loved the song so much that it topped the charts in 15 countries worldwide.

Other famous songwriters are Leona Lewis, who wrote her massive 2007 song "Bleeding Love." Sia is another big-name songwriter known for her hits. She's been credited on Beyonce, Britney Spears and Katy Perry albums. She honed her skills at the BRIT School in Croydon.

Babyface made a name for himself as a singer, but he's also penned many songs for other artists. His 1995 song, "Exhale (Shoop Shoop)" was part of the soundtrack to the film Waiting to Exhale and became a Billboard number one for Whitney Houston. He originally wrote it for Jessie J, but when she passed on the song, he handed it over to Miley Cyrus who turned it into a mega-hit.
