What Undertone is Blue Veins?

Whether you're trying to figure out what makeup, clothing, or jewelry looks best on you, it can be tricky to find the right shades. The key is to know your skin's undertone, which dictates which colors look good on you naturally. While your skin tone can change over time (thanks to sun damage or age), your undertone is something that stays the same. Thankfully, finding your undertone is pretty easy: you can simply look at the veins on your wrist in natural light.

If your veins appear greenish, you have warm undertones; if they are blue, then you have cool undertones; and if the colors of your veins match your skin color, you have neutral undertones. You can also determine your undertone by examining your eyes: green and brown eye colors usually indicate a warm undertone, while blue or grey eyes are often associated with cool undertones.

While there are a few different ways to identify your undertone, the most accurate is to examine the veins on the inside of your wrist in natural light. If the veins are primarily green, you have warm undertones; whereas if they're blue or purple, then you have cool undertones. If the veins on your wrist have a mix of both green and blue, you probably have neutral undertones. This method is easier to use on fair skin than it is on medium or dark complexions.
