The latest wrinkle relaxer in the market, Newtox, has recently gained popularity. This injectable, also known as Jeuveau, is a new FDA-approved neuromodulator specifically designed for cosmetic use. It is the newest addition to the family of botulinum toxin types A products such as Botox, Dysport and Xeomin and is considered to be the gold standard in this area of anti-aging treatments.
It was developed by Evolus, and uses a purified version of the same botulinum toxin that is found in Botox. This injection is injected directly into the muscle to temporarily relax the contractions of the face and to smooth out fine lines or prevent them from deepening over time. The results of Newtox can last up to 3 to 6 months.
Newtox works just like other wrinkle relaxers, blocking the chemical signals that are sent from nerves to muscles, paralyzing them and preventing them from contracting. It can be used to treat the glabellar lines, which are those vertical lines that develop between the eyebrows, but can also be used off-label in other areas of the face and can be combined with other injectables to provide the desired result for each individual patient.
The main difference between this neuromodulator and other wrinkle relaxers is that it has gone through a more extensive purification process. This is thought to make it slightly safer than the other injectables and may also have an effect on how long the results last.
