What Does Sex Smell Like?

If you’ve ever had a wild romp between the sheets with your special someone, chances are it was not as clean-smelling as you might have liked. Even if you shower every day and use deodorant, certain body parts, such as the butt, testicles and dick, tend to sweat more during sex than other areas of the body. Those sweats are not only going to smell, but they’re also likely to contain some amount of fecal matter and other unpleasant substances. This is especially true if you are on your period and the anal canal is open.

Luckily, there are things you can do to prevent this from happening to you. For starters, you should always shower before sex – a hot bath will do the trick as well. Showering will not only wash away any lingering sweaty scents, but it will also get rid of some of the other stuff that makes sex smell so bad.

Another way to prevent unwanted smells is to use lubrication. We recommend applying Intim Glide in the days leading up to sexual intercourse, on the external sex organs and around the vagina, to help reduce the likelihood of unpleasant post coital smells.

Finally, you should avoid unprotected sex because the smell of unprotected sex can be quite strong and unpleasant. This is partly due to the fact that sex can cause an imbalance in the normal bacteria in your vagina and lead to infections like bacterial vaginosis, which often has a fishy or musty odor. Unprotected sex can also cause STDs such as trichomoniasis, which has a very foul smell.
