What Does Seeing Yellow Spots Mean?

Seeing yellow spots in your vision can be alarming, especially when they appear in a way that affects your ability to see. These spots can be a sign of an eye disease, and they should never be ignored. In some cases, the spots are harmless, but if they’re accompanied by a headache or other symptoms, it may be time to see a doctor.

Typically, the most common reason for a person to see yellow spots in their vision is a condition called floaters. These are bits of debris that float in the jelly-like substance that fills your eyeball, and they cast shadows on your retina. In most cases, these are not a cause for concern and will disappear on their own over time.

Other times, a person may see yellow spots in their vision because of macular degeneration. Macular degeneration is a progressive condition that causes the cells in the central part of the retina to break down, and it can lead to blindness. There are two types of macular degeneration, dry and wet, and both are treatable.

Finally, yellow spots in a person’s eyes can be caused by a bacterial infection or liver disease. These can be treated with special medications or laser therapy to promote blood flow.

Regardless of the reason, it’s always best to consult a doctor whenever you experience any changes in your vision. This can help prevent further complications and allow you to receive treatment if needed.
