Founded in 1994 by Zen Master Thich Thanh Tu, this 24 hectare forest monastery is home to hundreds of monks and nuns. It is a serene place that provides insight into the different buddhist religions and how they practice their beliefs.
The Zen Buddhist temple is located on Phuong Hoang Hill and is the perfect place for a quiet, spiritual visit. It sits adjacent to the imposing Tuyen Lam Lake and is easy to reach by cable car (100,000d round-trip).
Day visits to the temple are relatively simple to arrange in person, although long stays require approval from the Grand Master.
This is one of the largest and oldest Buddhist temples in Can Tho City, with a complex of over 38,000 square meters. It is an architectural masterpiece with tiled roof structure, ironwood pillars and brick walls.
This is a solemn temple and visitors must take great care when visiting. It is recommended to wear beautiful and discreet clothing, and if you’re taking children, please make sure they don’t climb or do anything else that is disrespectful to the Buddha statues in the yard. The temple also welcomes travellers who are experiencing mental health issues and those in need of spiritual guidance.
