The Word Among Us - How to Meditate

the word among us daily meditation

Meditation is a great way to practice mindfulness and stress reduction, but it's important to make time for it daily. If you're new to meditating, it can be challenging to get started. But if you're committed, it can be very helpful!

You can also start with short meditations — just 5 minutes a day, for instance. It's a good idea to start slow and gradually work up to a longer meditation over time.

Daily meditations are also a great way to develop your prayer practice and strengthen your connection to God. They can also help you to deepen your awareness of the world around you, as well as your relationship with Christ and others.

The word among us is the most popular daily devotional for Catholics, and includes the daily Scripture readings from Mass with a meditation (based on one of the readings), the complete Order of the Mass, articles about the Saints, and practical advice on living the Christian life. Printed and digital editions are available.

How to meditate

The best way to begin a meditation practice is to sit in a comfortable position that feels right for you. It doesn't have to be in the classic lotus position, but it does need to be stable.

When your mind wanders, don't be afraid to notice it and return your attention to the breathing.

Whether you're sitting in a chair or lying down, it's important to feel your body. If you're unable to stay in the same position for the entire duration of the meditation, move around a bit until you find a position that's comfortable and stable.
