FFXIV is a great MMO that’s incredibly rewarding to play when played solo, but if you want to take your game to the next level, it’s important to learn a few tips that can really help you out. If you follow them, you’ll be able to enjoy the game to its fullest potential.
One of the first things you’ll need to do when you start playing FFXIV is complete all of its quests. This includes the Main Scenario Quest, or MSQ, which will require you to do a lot of running around and talking to different people.
If you do this, you’ll be rewarded with a bunch of different currency types in FFXIV — including Tomestones, Scrip, and Grand Company Seals, among others. These are not terribly valuable in themselves, but they’re essential for buying things like gear and even crafting materials.
Another type of currency is Materia, which can be used to enhance weapons and armor more-or-less how you choose. It can also be re-purposed for other purposes, such as boosting your skill speed, survivability, damage or healing.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that Materia can be a bit expensive. Thankfully, it’s possible to find older grades for a fraction of the price of newer ones on the Market Board. If you’re using a low-level class and need to upgrade your weapons, this can save you a ton of gil over the long haul.
