Taoist Meditation

taoist meditation

Taoist meditation is a technique of stillness and quietude. It is a practice that has been used in the past to train for spirituality and healing.

To be successful in taoist meditation you must first learn to sit still and quiet for long periods of time without fidgeting or shifting your position. This is hard work and takes a lot of training.

The purpose of taoist meditation is to cultivate chi, which is the universal life force that is thought to reside in all living things. This chi can then be channeled and released into the body to create radiant health, happiness, prosperity, peace and flow.

A recent study published in a medical journal found that people who meditated for at least a few minutes a day had reduced stress and symptoms of depression. It also found that meditation increased circulation of chi, strengthened the internal organs and improved the balance of yin and yang in the body.

There are several different forms of taoist meditation:

Emptiness mediation: This technique is called jin hua in Chinese and means “opening the channels.” It involves focusing your attention on a point of absolute quietness, space and calmness. Should thoughts or feelings come, simply let them arise and fall.

This can be difficult to do successfully in the beginning, especially if you have been accustomed to thinking constantly. A good way to overcome this is to count your breaths from one to ten, concentrating on each one fully.
