Spiritual Benefits of Covering Head
In many cultures and religions, people have a tradition of veiling their heads for various reasons. This may be to show respect to a deity, to show their humility (or modesty), or to protect one’s own spiritual energy and sense of connection.
Hijabs, Romani veils, Western wedding veils and African head wraps are just some examples of this common spiritual practice. Veils also provide psychic protection against the energies of other people.
Yogis wear a head covering during their practice to help focus and contain their energy. They believe that the hair is alive and contains innate energy that can regulate the flow of solar energy into the body.
The head covering helps to contain the powerful energies of Kundalini Yoga and create a natural cranial adjustment. A tightly-tied turban creates a light pressure on the tiny bones in the skull, which in turn helps to stabilize the neurological system and electromagnetic field.
This is important for the practitioner’s health and well-being as well as the safety of those around them. It is also an expression of devotion to their practice.
In the Christian church, the head covering is required by the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 11. While we cannot fully understand why this practice was prescribed, it is still a good instruction to trust and obey God.
