The chakras are the energy centers that align along the spine. Hindu and Buddhist philosophies say that the energy in these centers creates both mental and physical health.

The sacral chakra, which is also referred to as the second chakra, is associated with creativity, (pro)creation, sensuality, and pleasure. It’s the center of creative expression and can become blocked when it’s out of balance.

Meditation is one of the best ways to heal the sacral chakra, says Poon. It allows you to take time away from the busy world and focus on yourself.

To begin, find a comfortable place to sit and slow your breathing. When you feel a steady rhythm emerge, shift your focus to visualizing the color orange.

Another visualization is of a calm body of water like the ocean or lake. Alternatively, you could also visualize an open sky above.

Taking a bath or going for a swim is also thought to help the sacral chakra open. If you don’t have the option to take a bath, try soaking in a hot tub for a while or doing some yoga postures that target this area, such as Ananda Balasana and Utkata Konasana, both of which are excellent for balancing this energy center.

You can also use crystals for sacral chakra meditation; tiger’s eye or carnelian are great orange stones. These crystals can cleanse and strengthen the energy of this chakra and can be used as a focal point for meditation.
