Physical, Emotional and Mental Wellness

Physical wellness is determined by our behaviors and habits surrounding sleep, diet, exercise, hygiene and relaxation, which either support or derail optimal functioning. When we have achieved an ideal level of physical wellness we awake with energy ready to face whatever lies ahead for the day ahead.

Physical Wellness: Engaging in regular physical activity is an excellent way to maintain a healthy weight and prevent diseases like heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes. Exercise also boosts immunity levels and keeps us mentally alert. Experts suggest engaging in 30 minutes of physical activity daily but you may wish to break it up into 10-minute segments instead. Walking, playing outdoor sports or dancing are great ways to stay physically fit!

Emotional Wellness: Maintaining mental wellbeing depends upon having a solid emotional foundation. This includes being aware of emotions such as sadness or anger and knowing how to respond in a productive manner, seeking support from friends or family when needed or consulting a trained therapist when necessary and understanding triggers such as stressful events or everyday stresses that could set off anxiety triggers - psychotherapy, self-care practices such as mindfulness practice or self-care programs may all aid this effort - though medication such as antidepressants or mood stabilizers should always be discussed with your physician first before using antidepressants or mood stabilizers can also help treat mental illness symptoms; always consult your physician before starting this approach.
