How to Unblock Chakras

From feeling ungrounded and unsafe to having trouble expressing your emotions, a blocked chakra can have many negative impacts on your physical and emotional wellbeing. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to unblock chakras and restore the flow of energy they give to you.

The seven chakras (also known as energy centers) are located throughout your body and run from the base of your tailbone to the top of your head. They're believed to be centers of spiritual power, and they keep you healthy and balanced when they are in good working order. However, if one of the chakras becomes hypoactive or hyperactive, it can have a negative impact on your overall health and can lead to issues like headaches, anxiety, and depression.

For example, the Root Chakra is responsible for your sense of grounding and survival. If it's unbalanced, you may experience stress, fear, lack, or the "I don't have enough" mindset. To unblock the Root Chakra, you can try meditating and practicing yoga poses that open up the lower back, such as pigeon pose and mandukasana.

The Sacral Chakra, meanwhile, is your sexual energy center. Signs that it's clogged include lack of interest in sexual activities and feelings of unemotional or closed-off emotions. If you're having difficulty tapping into your creative side, the Navel Chakra could also be to blame. To unblock this chakra, sit on your knees and place your hands in front of your stomach with your thumbs touching each other. Visualize a yellow ball of light shining through this area and releasing any tension that's blocking the energy flow.
