How to inject wegovy
Wegovy is an injection you give yourself at home. Your doctor will teach you or your child how to use the injection pen and inject yourself. You should do this at the same time each week (usually once on Sunday). This helps you keep a consistent level of wegovy in your body.
When you are ready to inject, first clean the injection site with alcohol wipes. Then remove the outer cap from the pen and the inner needle cover. Then insert the injection needle into your skin, making sure the dose counter is still visible and that you don’t cover it with your fingers; covering it could interrupt the injection. Press and hold down the dose button until a drop of medicine appears at the needle tip and the dose counter reaches 0. This means you have injected your full dose.
After the injection, wait until the yellow bar on the pen stops moving and slowly remove the pen from your skin. You can also choose to rotate your injection sites, as this can help prevent skin irritation.
Like Ozempic, Wegovy comes in an easy-to-administer injection pen with a built-in needle. The pen is single-use and should be discarded into a sharps container when you are done using it. Never share an injection pen or change the needle, as this can spread infection or disease from person to person. Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction to Wegovy, such as hives, itching, fast heartbeats, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
