How to Grow a CBD Plant at Home

how to grow cbd plant at home

If you’re interested in growing a cbd plant at home, there are several factors you need to consider. First, you need to define the area where you plan on growing your hemp plants. Then you need to purchase the right number of grow lights that will be appropriate for your needs. HID lights, either high-pressure sodium (HPS) or metal halide (MH), are commonly used; however, you can also use LEDs which are cheaper and consume less energy.

Next, you’ll need to prepare your growing environment for flowering. For this, you’ll need to maintain six critical parameters: temperature, air circulation, light for flowering, water and feed.

Temperature: The growing zone should be kept at 68-77 degrees F and the relative humidity should be 40-50%. For air circulation, you can use a small oscillating clip fan or vent the grow tent or blackout cover.

Water: For this phase, you’ll want to provide consistent, nutrient-rich water to your seedlings. You’ll need a water-soluble fertilizer with a target 3:1:2 NPK ratio at 1/4 of the recommended application strength to keep your plants healthy.

Feed: For this phase, you’ll need a slightly heavier, nitrogen-rich potting mix with organic matter to help your seedlings grow. Fertilize your seedlings every few days, and make sure they’re getting plenty of water.

Once your seedlings have rooted to the bottom and sides of their rooting cell or plug, transplant them into a four- or five-inch pot. This is the beginning of your cannabis cultivation career, and it can take anywhere from 12 weeks for the plants to flower.
