How to Get the Most Out of Your Bathtub Meditation

bathtub meditation

Meditation is a practice that has so many benefits for your mind, body, and spirit. It can reduce stress, boost self-awareness, and relax your muscles. Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your bath time meditation:

Schedule Your Bathtime Meditation

Whether you’re a beginner or a pro at mindfulness, scheduling your bathtub meditation can make it easier to follow through with it. It also helps you feel like you’re making it a priority, rather than something that falls by the wayside with your busy schedule.

Create a Calming Environment

Start by setting up your tub area with soft, warm towels and lighting candles. You could even use scented candles to add another layer of relaxation.

Choose a scent that you find calming, such as rose, lavender, or chamomile. You can also add some bubble soap or bath oil to your water for an added sensory experience.

Set a Timeframe for Your Meditative Bath

Usually, ten to fifteen minutes is enough to feel the benefits of a bath. However, if you’re new to meditating or haven’t meditated for a while, you may need more time.

Sit Back and Meditate

Once you’re settled in the tub, take your time to relax and breathe deeply. You can focus on your mantra or just pay attention to how the water feels on your skin.

Listen to Meditation Music or Nature Sounds

If you’re a music lover, playing your favorite tunes will help you relax during your bathtub meditation. However, it’s best to avoid music that contains lyrics, as it can distract you from focusing on your breathing. You can also play natural sounds such as rainstorms or whales, if you prefer that type of soundscape.
