How Long to Cook Chorizo?

Chorizo is a versatile protein that cooks quickly and has an amazing flavor profile. It can be used in a variety of ways for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It’s one of the easiest proteins to make at home, and it takes just 15 minutes from start to finish!

Chorizo sausage is made from pork and a mix of ground meats, spices, and natural casings formed from pig intestines (although artificial collagen casings are sometimes used for convenience’s sake). It’s typically cured using paprika and other seasonings, including garlic and chili powder, and then smoked over hickory or oak to impart the signature smoky flavor that makes it so famous.

Once the chorizo has been smoked, it’s typically hung to dry in a cool place until it’s pliable and ready to use. Chorizo can be sold in a number of forms, from small links to large coils to thin strips that can be added to omelets and tacos. It’s also available in a variety of shapes, from short sticks to long sticks that resemble salami.

This recipe is super easy, and you probably already have all the ingredients in your kitchen! You’ll only need a few common items like ground pork, vinegar, and a handful of spices. Be sure to use Spanish smoked paprika, which adds the delicious smoky depth that makes chorizo so special. Likewise, don’t skip the cumin; it’s another essential ingredient that lends to its signature robust and savory flavor.
