How Long Does CBD Stay in Your System?
There are many reasons why people use CBD products, including regulating sleep patterns, controlling seizures, managing pain, and relieving appetite loss. However, if you’re looking to get a job or consent for safety-sensitive tests, you may want to know how long it’s likely to show up on a drug test.
How Long Does CBD Show Up on a Drug Screen?
Most drug tests look for metabolites of THC, the main active ingredient in marijuana. Depending on how you use CBD, the substance could be detected for up to three days after taking it.
Detection Rates and Last Detection Times
In the current study, we measured
Results (Table 3) showed that the median CBD and CBN Cmax occurred 0.5h after smoking. These time courses were similar to those described in previous studies. In contrast, for the 2 participants with late THC Cmax, Cmax occurred at 1 and 2h after smoking (Table 3).
Unlike THC, last detection times for CBD were shorter in frequent smokers compared to occasional smokers. Specifically, the last positive OF for CBD was 4 (1-10.5) and 2.5 (2-6) h, whereas the last positive OF for CBN was 6 (2-13.5) and 8 (2-28) h, respectively. These results suggest that CBD metabolites are more rapidly cleared from the body than THC metabolites.
