A human body is covered in hair, which is made from a hard protein called keratin, also found in fingernails and toenails. Hairs grow from tiny holes in the skin called hair follicles. People can remove hairs from their bodies by waxing, shaving or using hair removal creams. Hair regrowth is typically less noticeable after a professional hair removal service using soft wax than it is with other methods, such as shaving.
A client comes in to have a large area of body hair removed with soft wax. The waxing technician applies a thin layer of warm soft wax over the skin. A cloth strip is then pressed onto the wax and quickly pulled off. The strip pulls hairs and dead skin cells along with it. This method of hair removal is generally faster and more efficient than shaving. It is also much more effective than plucking and shaving, which can cause the hairs to grow back coarser and thicker.
If a client notices hairs regrowing rapidly after a waxing session, they may need to see their doctor. This can be a sign of an underlying condition, such as polycystic ovary syndrome or hyperthyroidism.
There are many different kinds of waxing products on the market, and each one has its pros and cons. For example, hard wax typically does not require a strip, but it is more expensive than soft wax and can cause the skin to break or crack if it’s applied too thickly. Soft wax requires a strip, but it spreads easier and more easily than hard wax, making it perfect for larger areas of the body.
