Benefits of marriage in skyrim

Getting married in skyrim is one of the easiest things to do. All you need to do is visit the Temple of Mara in Riften and speak to the priest about weddings. They’ll explain how the process works, prompt you to buy an Amulet of Mara, and allow you to speak with your potential betrothed.

NPCs are all eligible for marriage – no matter what their race, gender or disposition. However, certain races – such as Khajiit, Bosmer, male Redguard or male Altmer – are not eligible for marriage.

Spouses can become merchants after marriage and can sell general goods, as well as a portion of their profits every 24 hours. They will also cook a ‘Home Cooked Meal’ once per day, which temporarily increases health, stamina and magicka recovery.

There are many different NPCs who are available to marry, so you can choose the right person for you based on their temperament and interests. The key is finding a suitable candidate that you can be yourself with and have a good relationship with.

Mjoll is a Nord in Riften who opposes corruption. She can be found either wandering around or eating in the Bee and the Barb, and once you complete Grimsever’s Return she’ll be up for Skyrim marriage.

Octieve San is a Nord in Solitude who wants to persuade, bribe or intimidate you into marrying him. He’s a bit tricky to find, but once you’ve completed his favour, he’ll be all yours and he can help with Skyrim marriage.
