3 Reasons Why I Stopped Getting Eyelash Extensions

If you’re like most women, your eyelashes aren’t quite as full and luscious as some of the people you see around you. Whether you’re jealous of their lush appearance or simply want to look awake and refreshed without spending time on your makeup, it can be tempting to take the plunge and try eyelash extensions.

If properly applied by a licensed aesthetician, eyelash extensions shouldn’t harm your natural lashes. However, if you aren’t careful with the care of your extensions, they can do more harm than good.

Eyelash Extensions Can Be Expensive

Even when applied properly by a qualified aesthetician, eyelash extensions can be expensive over time. They require regular touch-ups and fill-ins to maintain their shape and appearance, and they can be very difficult to remove completely without causing damage to the natural lashes underneath.

Some People Can Get Allergic to Eyelash Glue

A minority of people can be allergic to the glue used to apply eyelash extensions, which can cause an itchy, burning, and sometimes oozing rash. If left untreated, the allergy can worsen and lead to eyelid swelling or blurred vision.

You Can Get Infected With Eyelash Extension Mites

Another reason some people stop getting eyelash extensions is because they can get infected with eyelash extension mites. These tiny bugs live on the oils and debris that collect on the lashes, and if not cleaned regularly, can trigger irritation and itchiness. To avoid this, make sure to brush your lashes with a spoolie brush on a daily basis to remove excess oil and debris from the lash line.
